Welcome to Woodland Class
In Woodland Class we look after each other and our environment. We always try our best and persevere when things get a bit tricky. We know that making learning stick takes lots of practice so we keep on trying hard.

Autumn 1
How have schools changed?
We are learning how school life has changed over the last 150 years. We will be learning how artefacts, photos and documents help historians to find out about the past. We will visit a virtual museum to experience time as a pupil in a Victorian school and discover that expectations for boys and girls were different. We will have a go at following some school rules from the past and try our hand at writing on slates and with a dip pen. We will be learning about the history of our own school buildings and looking to see what we can discover from the ledgers we saved from the last flood.
In Science we will be learning about everyday materials to answer the question “What shall we use to make an umbrella / ship / window? We will learn to talk about different materials and compare their properties. We will investigate whether objects are made of man-made or natural materials and whether materials are absorbent or more waterproof.

Home Learning
How can you help your child? Each week the children will bring home:
a new reading book
a book from the school library that they have chosen
and sometimes a maths challenge for the weekend.
Remote Learning
Class Dojo will be used as the main platform for remote learning if part or whole school closure is required. Some resources may need to be uploaded to this class page and we will direct families if needed. Please ensure you login and check Class Dojo every day to access a wide range of cross curricular home learning activities.
