Welcome to River Class

At Central Street, we offer an Autism Resourced Provision for pupils of Reception age to the end of Key Stage 1. The provision offers pupils a program of learning tailored to their individual needs with a range of specialist interventions within a mainstream setting. The targeted support we offer focuses on the specific learning needs of the pupils in areas like communication, social interaction, sensory processing and emotional understanding. Our curriculum is designed to advance understanding where pupils can learn through play, exploration, practical activities and focused learning.

The provision provides a dedicated and secure space for specialized support alongside the opportunity for pupils to integrate into mainstream lessons for parts of their school day. These interventions help to promote and foster a sense of belonging and inclusion. The ultimate aim is for pupils to spend at least half their time in mainstream classes as independently as possible and the purpose of this integration is to prepare pupils for a successful transition to KS2 or to another ARP. To achieve this goal the ARP has a dedicated and specialist team of teachers and Educational Teaching Assistants who are trained to meet the specific needs of the pupils within the provision.

The provision has places for 10 pupils at any one time. Entry to the provision is only through consultation with the Local Authority.

Summer Term 1 2025

How Things Grow?

This half term we will be looking at the topic of Plants, and how to care for them. We will explore different local plants, their life cycle, and the best way to look after a seed so it will thrive. We will of course be doing plenty of planting… expect lots of plant pots coming home!

Home Learning

How can you help your child? Each week the children will bring home:

  • a new reading book

  • a book from the school library that they have chosen

Class Dojo will be used as the main platform for remote learning if part or whole school closure is required. Some resources may need to be uploaded to this class page and we will direct families if needed. Please ensure you login and check Class Dojo every day to access a wide range of cross curricular home learning activities.
