Welcome to River Class

We are learning and preparing for our future!

At Central Street, we host an ASD Primary Resourced Provision for pupils of Reception age to the end of Key Stage 1. The Provision offers an autistic specific programme with opportunities for age appropriate inclusion into mainstream classes.

The provision has places for 9 pupils at any one time. Entry to the provision is only through consultation with the Local Authority.

The classroom aims to create a structured ASD friendly teaching environment, using the principles of TEACCH. Pupils are taught using a variety of strategies and ASD approaches according to their individual needs and abilities.

Children will take place in social integration within Central Street School including playtimes, lunchtimes and assemblies. Children can integrate within the mainstream school based on their strengths and interests.

The ASD Primary Resourced Provision at Central Street offers:

  • Access to a specialist resourced classroom with specially trained teaching and support staff

  • A controlled social/language environment

  • High adult to pupil ratios

  • Access to centrally delivered/school based training for families, school staff and other professionals to increase their knowledge and skills in relation to ASD

  • Access to specialist support, advice and intervention from the ASD Team

  • An ASD specific curriculum delivered alongside the EYFS curriculum and National Curriculum

  • An appropriate ILDP that addresses the pupil’s ASD and learning needs

  • Opportunities to learn social behaviours from peers

  • A low stimulation environment in the ASD Primary Resourced Provision classroom

Amazing Animals

This half term we will be looking at the topic of Amazing Animals. We will be learning about how different animals live, where they live and what they do in their natural habitats. We will be focusing on animals that live in cold places to begin with and then explore some of the animals that live in hot places.

Home Learning

How can you help your child? Each week the children will bring home:

  • a new reading book

  • a book from the school library that they have chosen

  • Remote Learning

Class Dojo will be used as the main platform for remote learning if part or whole school closure is required. Some resources may need to be uploaded to this class page and we will direct families if needed. Please ensure you login and check Class Dojo every day to access a wide range of cross curricular home learning activities.
